SHOPIFY SHIPPING APP

Bulk shipping labels for Shopify with Karl

Tick the orders, click once: Karl books the shipping labels for every selected order and sends them to your label printer. The app itself is in German and calls bulk printing “Stapel” (batch). Included from Karl Pro, 14-day trial, installable from the Shopify App Store.

Print multiple shipping labels at once

01

Tick orders instead of opening each one

In Karl's order list you tick the orders that should go out and click “Labels erstellen” (create labels). Karl works through the list itself; you do not open a single order.

02

Booked and printed in one step

With the option “Nach Erstellung sofort drucken” (print right after creation) ticked, the labels go straight to the computer that prints your print queue. The print service runs on Windows and on the Mac and prints to your label printer without a print dialogue. Without that option, the labels wait in the print queue until you fetch them.

03

The batch keeps running without you

A window shows the progress. You can close it, and the batch keeps running. If Karl could not create some labels, the window tells you at the end how many labels are in the print queue and how many are missing, with the reason for each order.

04

What fails stays open

If Karl cannot create a label for an order, that order stays open, the rest goes through, and the window gives the reason. If the chosen carrier is unavailable or cannot accept the shipment, Karl does not quietly book a different one. You decide on that order yourself.

Frequently asked questions about bulk label printing

Can I print multiple shipping labels at once in Shopify?

With Karl, yes, from the Karl Pro plan. You tick the orders in Karl's order list and click “Labels erstellen” (create labels). Karl books the labels and sends them to your label printer or puts them in the print queue. The app calls the feature “Stapel”; others call it bulk or batch label printing.

Which plan includes bulk label printing?

Karl Pro and Karl Enterprise. Karl Start (no monthly fee, €0.25 per label) does not include it; there you create labels one at a time, for example with scan-to-label.

Can I print multiple DHL labels at once?

Yes. Bulk printing works with the carriers you have set up in Karl: DHL, DHL Express, UPS, FedEx, DPD, Austrian Post and Internetmarke. Karl picks the carrier per order by smart routing, or you set one carrier for the whole batch. Labels are booked on your own carrier accounts: for DHL Paket on your DHL business customer contract (GKP), for Internetmarke on your Portokasse.

Which printer do I need, and does it work on a Mac?

Karl's print service runs on Windows and on the Mac and prints to the printer you select there. A thermal label printer is the usual choice. If the print service runs on several computers, you choose in the settings which one prints the print queue. Without a choice a Windows PC prints it; a Mac only does if you select it there.

What happens if a label in the batch cannot be created?

That order stays open and the other labels are created. At the end, the window shows how many labels are in the print queue and how many could not be created, with the reason for each order.
